Caretaker cabinet in Bulgaria

Two days after President Rumen Radev took office on 22 January 2017, he named former speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov as caretaker prime minister. Gerdzhikov’s cabinet, comprising a few party members but mostly technocrats, was announced the following day and took office on 27 January. It was tasked with overseeing the run-up to early elections scheduled for 26 March. (more…)
